Haiti

How could Haiti, a tropical island situated in the middle of the beautiful turquoise Caribbean, be a land of difficulty, desolation, and despair? Once the richest, most coveted colony in the world – the Pearl of the Antilles, is now the poorest with a yearly average wage less than $360.

Christopher Columbus landed on Hispanola in December 1492, and by the middle of the 17th century, the French had made it the most profitable colony in the world. The more than 500,000 imported African slaves revolted and gained independence in 1791, ultimately dedicating Haiti to Satan and voodoo practices.

In the midst of the need, OMS International has ministered since the 1950s and is presently positioned to help reclaim Haiti for Christ.
